Born and raised in New York City, in 2024 Brian returned home to work full-time as a lighting designer for the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
He began his lighting career with his high school plays. Afterward, he worked in Off- Broadway theaters while attending Bard College, where he graduated with a BFA in Film.
Brian’s career is comprised of varied experiences. He provided lighting for numerous spaces including the Rubin Museum of Art in NYC, the HERE Arts Center, the Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology, the Heymann Center for the Performing Arts, the American Museum of Natural History, the Orpheum Theater in New Orleans, and the National Civil Rights Museum, in Memphis, TN.
Upon moving to Lafayette, Louisiana in 2011, he accepted the position of Technical Director for the Acadiana Center for the Arts, where for four years he had the pleasure of working fully immersed in the arts and culture of Louisiana.
In 2015 Brian started his own lighting design firm, Footcandle Lighting & Electric. He collaborates with groups such as Opera Louisiane, Basin Dance Collective, Haymarket Opera, Turner Fischer Center for Opera at LSU, and Zachary Richard.
When away from the theater, Brian designs and builds custom lamps, and lighting installations. His work has been shown at the Acadiana Center for the Arts, the Contemporary Art Center, New Orleans and the Hilliard Museum of Art.
Brian uses light as his personal language, blurring the lines between a profession and a calling.
