cancer: the crab
Northern Hemisphere, Cancer is best seen in the evening sky in late winter and early spring. In ancient star lore, Cancer was known as the “Gate of Men”, since it was believed to be the portal through which souls descended from Heaven to take up their abodes in the bodies of new-born babies. Cancer was called House of the Moon by the ancient Greeks. They believed the moon was born within the constellation. What they were seeing has now been identified as the BeehiveCluster (closest to Earth and most populated open cluster of stars).
